Youngest Mighty Warrior

MIGHTY Warriors midfielder, Patience Ndlovu, became the youngest Zimbabwean to claim a start at the just ended COSAFA Women’s Cup when they suffered a 0-2 loss at the hands of Mozambique yesterday.

Coach Shadreck Mlauzi made a gamble to bench his tried and tested troops and give new blood an opportunity.

It was the 17-year-old’s first appearance at this tournament.

The Mighty Warriors also had Tanyaradzwa Chihoro (18), who also started against Mozambique.

Ndlovu and Chihoro had a decent performance and they played as if it was their last opportunity to prove why they are deemed as the future of this team.

Ndlovu told Zimpapers Sports that this opportunity has challenged her to be a shining star.

“It feels good to be part of this team, it’s unfortunate that we failed to win bronze but I’m more than happy with this experience.

“I have learnt a lot from this tournament and it has helped me to see how I can help myself to develop as a player.

“This opportunity has changed the way I used to see things and I have seen that hard work pays more than anything and I’m going to try the best I can to reach the top,” said Ndlovu.
