H-Metro Reporter
RETIRED footballer, Norman Maroto, has criticised H-Metro’s back page headline yesterday about Yadah Stars giving striker Jerry Chipangura a chance.
Chipangura served time in prison for drug dealing.
The headline read “Yadah Take Chance On Drug Dealer Jerry,”
And, Maroto feels it’s wrong.
“Something is just wrong with this headline on all levels,” he tweeted. “To persevere in the face of difficulties demands a real man.
“Wishing you luck at Yadah FC and many goals, Jerry, you are the Man.
“It’s really sad that the media choose to zoom in on the worst traits of people when there is a lot of good that we can focus on to help our communities get better through football.”
Maroto’s comments have attracted a lot of responses and here are some of them:

Did you study journalism? The problem is you want to be everywhere. We know you as a footballer who played in Zimbabwe’s bogus top-flight league, PSL. Izvi zvekuda kupa ma lecture kune ma journalists hameno muri kuzvitora kupi.
Romeo Gutuza
Nobody can stop you from being the best, yes, we make mistakes but when the mistake is corrected for good we should applaud…Come back strong Jerry mufanha wangu.
Maurice Marima Mpofu
That’s media for you. At the same time bad publicity is still good publicity. If it turns out good for him, imagine how many young boys and girls going through similar circumstances he could inspire?
Masimba Gonese
This is typical nauseating screaming headlines from @Chakariboy (H-Metro Editor)
Brian Ngoma
Very insensitive journalism mazuvano so.

Mukoma @Chakariboy apa matadza henyu. This is low, as low as anyone can get. A low blow on the boy. You should have used him as an inspiration to many in such circumstances. It’s a dark hole they are in, with no prospects for a return. But this Jerry boy has, against all the odds, defied (that).
Leo Munhende
There’s nothing wrong apa, the story is not just factual but also discourages others from these illegal acts. It’s not every time the media should look to inspire, sometimes it must punish. A lot of young people look up to him. They deserve to know that what he did was wrong.
Ian Zvoma
I respect how you view it from a brotherhood perspective. But the media is duty bound.

Ah nhai shamwari pane nhema dzataurwa here? Toda anhu ano reasoner handiti

H-Metro is more of a tabloid, for them negativity sells which actually is true, the human being is more likely to focus more on your bad days than your good ones, we all deserve a 100th chance, wishing Jerry all the best, tema dhoiri mafana
