A concerned youth group on Tuesday urged Government to take practical steps to prosecute corrupt officials who are abusing resources in public and quasi-State institutions. Youth Alliance Against Corruption leader Mr Gilbert Musungwa told journalists that the organisation was concerned about the rising number of corruption reports in the media in recent months.
“We want to express our deepest disgust and dismay over the rate and level of corruption in this country,” he said. “We believe that these cases are just but a tip of an iceberg.
“Such acts are subversive and detrimental to the attainment of a better future for our nation.
“It is our duty as the vanguard to play our part in this struggle against these selfish and individualistic acts.”
His alliance, he said, would petition Government to ensure that those who are found guilty of graft are prosecuted. They argued that their future can not be taken for a ride.
