TWO charity organisations have combined to empower the youth and community members through self-help income-generating projects.

The projects include farming, beekeeping, market gardening, mushroom and herbal gardens, fish farming, poultry and Boer goat farming, among others.

Watchman Relief Organisation (WRO) and Upper Room Sherkinah Ministries International Trust have transformed an area in Bulawayo into a Technical Skills Hub, offering a range of activities.

WRO founder Professor Nathaniel KudakwaMwari said their aim was to empower the youths.

“The future of every nation lies in its youth. Empowering them with self-help skills empowers the nation.

“This is a collaboration to foster self-sufficiency among the youths and community members.

“We have outlined projects such as cattle fattening, rabbit farming and fabric manufacturing, among other activities. These initiatives will provide training and resources for the youths to overcome socio-economic challenges.

“We will also offer a platform for university graduates, technical college graduates, secondary school leavers, and community members to develop income-generating projects.”

The collaboration will also see the empowerment of prison inmates with self-help skills and counselling before reintegration into society.

“This will also help to reduce idleness, drug abuse and theft among our youths.

“We are targeting university graduates, technical college graduates, secondary school leavers and community members with a passion for entrepreneurship.

“The aim is to promote youth empowerment, shape responsible citizens and contribute to Zimbabwe’s GDP,” added Professor KudakwaMwari.

Dr Fabian Phiri, of the Upper Room Sherkinah Ministries, said:

“As a minister and parent, my passion is to empower the youths spiritually and economically, making our mission of shaping human destinies more relevant.”
