Youth entrepreneur of the Week

BRIGHT NEZOMBA (pictured) is the founder of Nezox Brands, a banana processing company that addresses the problem of post-harvest losses incurred by smallholder farmers, specifically in Honde Valley, Manicaland province.

Nezox Brands specialises in products such as green banana flour, ripe dried banana snacks, banana peel oil, banana wine, banana fibre and seasonal dried mango snacks.

“We are trying to offer a farm-to-table with minimal or zero losses along the way of banana production,” said Nezomba.

Upon discovering that smallholder farmers lose almost 30 percent of their produce due to post-harvest challenges, Nezomba, who is also an agronomist, came up with the idea of a business that mitigates these losses and creates value for them.

He was named the best young agriculture value-addition farmer in Manicaland province.
