THE Zanu PF Youth League is set to conduct a comprehensive audit of the US$2 million empowerment fund to assess progress, accountability and the overall impact of such projects across all provinces.
The fund was availed last year by President Mnangagwa. Under the Second Republic, young people have been benefiting from various empowerment initiatives.
Some provinces received tipper trucks, buses and haulage trucks, among other assets.
Bulawayo, Matabeleland North and Matabeleland South provinces have already secured contracts with mining companies as part of income‑generation efforts.
On the other hand, Harare Province secured contracts with Khayah Cement, while Manicaland purchased two buses operating on the Harare–Mutare route.
On its part, Masvingo Province bought two 30‑tonne haulage trucks for transporting bulk cargo, mining materials and large freight over long distances.
Midlands Province also acquired two 30‑tonne trucks, with an additional unit expected this year.
Mashonaland Central Province is set to receive earth‑moving equipment this month as part of its allocation.
Zanu PF Secretary for Youth Affairs, Cde Tino Machakaire, confirmed that the Youth League leadership will soon dispatch monitoring and evaluation teams under the economic cluster.
“President Mnangagwa’s leadership continues to inspire young people through his unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, skills development, industrialisation and inclusive national development,” said Cde Machakaire.
