Zanu PF will continue uplifting the lives of Zimbabweans and the party’s Youth League says it has been mandated to support and protect the cause.
Addressing Zanu PF Youth League members from Mashonaland West Youth League, affiliate organisations and provincial Youth League chairmen from across the country in Chinhoyi yesterday, acting Deputy Youth Secretary, Cde Tendai Chirau, said the revolutionary party was set to trounce opposition parties in the March by-elections and the 2023 harmonised elections.
The meeting sought to address challenges facing youths, strategies to help the party to win elections and efforts the party was making to economically uplift lives of youths, including the recently disbursed heifers by President Mnangagwa to youths across the country.
“All we want is for Zanu PF to remain in power forever and for this to happen, it needs the youths to fire from all angles,” said Cde Chirau.
“For Zanu PF to win, it requires efforts from the party and students’ affiliates.
“Some can mobilise students, some can mobilise graduates; there are those who can mobilise miners, so we do it together to remain in power forever as Zanu PF.”
Cde Chirau urged youths to bury political differences that might have been caused by the recent in-house party elections, to ensure the party wins the by-elections and the 2023 polls.
“Let’s work with the winning candidates so that we don’t get divided,” he said.
Cde Chirau said youths were solidly behind President Mnangagwa so that he wins resoundingly in 2023.
“There is a lot of production happening as a result of his leadership,” he said.
Cde Chirau encouraged youths to further their education.
Mashonaland West provincial Youth League chairman, Cde Tapiwa Masenda, said the wing had sourced over 26 000 textbooks from a private company to support the education sector in the province, particularly those in the rural areas.
In her remarks, Zanu PF provincial chairman, Cde Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, lauded the youths for coming up with the meeting.
She warned against the abuse of social media, saying it would affect the party’s stability.
The youths are expected to hold a clean-up campaign in Harare on February 21, while a commemorative gala to honour the late Zimdancehall chanter, Cde Soul “Soul Jah Love” Musaka is on the cards.
Cde Musaka died on February 16 last year and was declared a liberation hero.
