The Youth Summit of Zimbabwe International recently embarked on a series of enlightening educational tours designed to foster patriotism, economic understanding and a deeper appreciation of Zimbabwe’s rich history.
The first stop for the young delegates was the iconic Museum of African Liberation, where they were privileged to have Honourable Shackmore Timburwa, a respected Member of Parliament, as their guest of honour.
In his address, Honourable Timburwa emphasised the significance of a strong Zimbabwean identity as the bedrock of national unity and progress.
He underscored the role of history in shaping this identity, urging the young leaders to explore their heritage and draw inspiration from the sacrifices of past generations.
Building on this foundation of national pride, the summit participants then visited the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.
There, they gained invaluable insights into the workings of the nation’s financial system through a presentation by one of the bank’s leading economists.
The delegates were introduced to the complexities of monetary policy and the factors influencing its formulation.
The economist also provided a comprehensive overview of the newly introduced Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency, its role in stabilising the economy and its implications for the nation’s financial future.
The tours left a profound impact on the young leaders, equipping them with a deeper understanding of Zimbabwe’s past, present and future.
By combining a strong sense of national identity with a solid grasp of economic principles, the Youth Summit delegates are poised to become influential contributors to the country’s development. The summit organisers expressed their satisfaction with the success of the tours, highlighting their role in nurturing the next generation of Zimbabwean leaders.
