PROFESSOR Ethan Moyo, a Zimbabwean-born South African businessman who has a vast business portfolio ranging from gold mining, private equity, oil, gas, real estate and consumables, has taken heed of President Mnangagwa’s clarion call for Zimbabweans to “go and make money.”
Starting his business when he was barely 17, Prof Moyo, who is one of the youngest people to hold an honorary professor title in business, wants to emulate business mogul Dr Strive Masiyiwa and become a billionaire.
“I am inspired by President Mnangagwa’s call for Zimbabweans to make money and prosper. So when I wake up each day the President’s call rings in my head and this inspires me to work hard and become a billionaire just like Dr Masiiwa.
Prof Moyo, who became a millionaire when he was 26, represents Zimbabwe as a senator at the World Business Angels Investment Forum.
The World Business Angels Investment Forum (WBAF) is an international organisation aiming to ease access to finance for businesses from start-ups.
The forum’s ultimate goal is to create more jobs and to bring social justice.
Prof Moyo, who is the president of the African Billionaires Association, is aiming at becoming a business mogul in the international business space.
The African Billionaires Association is a diversified global entrepreneurship ecosystem whose aim is to create easy access to business opportunities and to promote global trade between young entrepreneurs.
A colourful figure, his public appearances usually attract a lot of attention as he moves around with an entourage and bodyguards.
Prof Moyo urged young entrepreneurs to aim higher and believe in themselves.
“With President Mnangagwa, Zimbabwe is in safe hands. Young people must take advantage of the opportunities that are being created and become business moguls.”
“I also urge young people to dream and follow their dreams. No dream is too good to be true,” he said.
