United States-based ex-Zimpraise Kids founder member Brent Kudakwashe has formed a new music group called “The Jesus Project” that will launch its debut album this weekend. The group comprises 12 children from different schools and churches aged between 10 and 14-years-old.
The six-track album titled, “Tales of the Cross” (Nyaya Dzemuchinjiko) has songs like, “Grateful”, “Mune Simba”, “Apo paCalvary” and “Thicker than blood” among others that were all written by Kudakwashe.
In an interview with The Herald, Kudakwashe who is in the country to push the project said he has passion for children.
He said the project also helps to bring them closer to religion, hence promoting and nurturing talent.
“The album was recorded by Mcdonald Chidavaenzi affectionately known as Mcdee. I love working with children, even my profession apart from music, I work in a boat cruise at the children’s entertainment area. I have scouted the children from different backgrounds, schools and religion and have twelve members.
The children are talented and this album will be their stepping stone in the music scene,” he said.
He said they are working on shooting a video before he leaves for United States.
“The children are in good hands and so excited about the launch of their debut album, first on radio stations then the big event.
I am planning to shoot a video for them before I return hence they will be on with other management which I will be supervising,” he said.
Kudakwashe said the music sector should respect and appreciate young talent and promoters should include them in their shows.
