Latwell Nyangu

YOUTHS in Dzivaresekwa have been urged to safeguard their future by abstaining from drugs ahead of the country’s 44th independence celebrations.

Team Flag Zimbabwe is spearheading a number of campaigns against drugs and early marriages.

Prophet BT Chikomo, the spokesperson of the organisation, said they were working with all stakeholders.

“This is a group teaching the ideology of Great Zimbabwe and, as we are moving towards independence, our word to the youths is that they need to stay away from drugs so that the future of this country can be trusted in their hands.

“We are also encouraging them to stop GBV and we are advocating for the elimination of early marriages and any abuse that can happen to the girl child.

“If we have a directionless youth, the country can be in the wrong hands. We are bringing the patriotic youths who embrace the ideology of their country.

“We want to define the real meaning of our national colours.”

Chikomo said the campaign will get to every corner of the country.

“We are spearheading this campaign across the divide, musicians, martial arts, boxing.

“We want to organise galas which will attract the youth.

“It’s a war against drugs, we have real issues on the ground and Team Flag we can win this war.

“We want to involve everyone, if the percentage of people taking drugs decreases, then the country has won the war.”
