THE Zimbabwe Association of Funeral Assurers is planning on creating a regional funeral assurers association which will be crucial in easing the costs and complexities around repatriation of member citizens within the southern African region to their countries of origins upon their deaths.
ZAFA is an association that represents all funeral assurers and services players in Zimbabwe.
Addressing the Press early this week in Harare, ZAFA president, Dr Edward Gomba, said the idea of a regional association will be top of agenda when they host the first ever funeral and services conference from July 26 to 28 this month in Gweru where president of the funeral industry in Kenya, Mr Olack Ezra and Dr Konyana, from National Funeral Directors Association of South Africa will be present.
“We will want to take the occasion of our conference to discuss with our regional counterparts the idea of forming a Southern Africa Funeral Association to help harmonise funeral procedures and regulation in the region. Some of our member companies are already having some companies in South Africa for example Doves and Moonlight have informed us they have companies in South Africa in partnership to help repatriate our fellow Zimbabweans and like I said the formation of the Southern Africa Funeral Association is a critical issue that we should carry out for the purposes of making sure whenever you are in Southern Africa there won’t be difficulties in repatriating our fellow countrymen,” he said.
