Zahara launches ‘Country Girl’ in Zim

Loliwe hit-maker, Zahara will be in the country at the weekend for the launch of her latest offering, “Country Girl”. The South African songstress who is no stranger to local music lovers is also expected to perform at the Star FM People’s Choice Awards being held at the Harare International Conference Centre on Saturday.

She will share the local stage with local musicians Sulumani Chimbetu and Jah Prayzah.

Country Girl, Zahara’s third studio album reportedly sold 20,000 copies in 24 hours of its release on September 25. The album features Robbie Malinga and has tracks Imali, Ntomb’entle, Izintaba, Ama Player and Bengirongo.

In 2011, her debut album Loliwe made history by going platinum in 13 days (selling 40,000 units) and double platinum (selling 80,000 units) after 17 days.

The follow-up album Phendula equally measured, winning best-selling album at the 20th Annual South African Music Awards. — Harare Bureau/Showbiz Reporter.
