A 23-YEAR-OLD mentally challenged Zaka man reportedly attacked and killed his father with an iron bar and a wooden log.
Arifas Chingwe has since been arrested, but police did not give reasons for the murder when confirming the incident.
The incident comes hard on the heels of two Harare brothers allegedly killing their father over witchcraft accusations.
National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said the father was found lying in a pool of blood.
“Police in Zaka have arrested a suspected mental patient, Arifas, in connection with cold blood murder of his father, Garai Chingwe, 46.
“The father was found dead lying in a pool of blood with multiple deep cuts on the head near the family’s homestead. Police have so far recovered an iron bar and a wooden log used in the commission of the offence,” he said.
