Dhlomo and Guyo, who won admiration with their superb displays as well as their beach outfits at last year’s edition, beat Tracy Njanji and Lillian Chirandu of AM Academy 2-0 in the final.

In an interview from their Harare base yesterday, the pair who head to the tournament as the best ranked team hopes that more women’s teams will register for the Binga Beach Volleyball competition.

“We’re definitely coming to defend our title. We had a great time the last time we were at Binga and we’re hoping that more women’s teams will compete at this year’s edition.

“Last year we learnt a lot, hope to maintain composure that saw us winning the tournament and hopefully the fans who gave us great support last year will come in their numbers,” said Dhlomo.

Six women’s teams participated at the inaugural edition of the Binga Beach Volleyball.
The pair of Dhlomo and Guyo have been participating in the Zone Six beach Volleyball Series where they have amassed 828 points, ranked seventh in Africa and fifth in the region.

“Just that we’ve participated at Zone Six Games doesn’t make us under-rate the competition at hand. We respect all the opponents and we’re looking forward to some challenging games. We’ve been training hard and are excited to be travelling to Binga,” Guyo said. – @ZililoR
