MASHONALAND Central Division Two B side Zambezi Gas and Coal were the first team to gain promotion for the ZIFA Northern Region Division One after they managed a 1-0 win over Tiger Bullets at the weekend.
The team, which is sponsored by Edward Raradza through his Gas and Coal Enterprises, is hopeful they are not coming to the second tier to add numbers but to be competitive.
Centenary has not had a football team for close to a decade but Zambezi Coal and Gas have promised to bring back first division football to Mashonaland Central.
In their last week’s game, Coal and Gas only wanted a draw or a win against Tiger Bullets whom they beat 1-0 through a solitary strike by Munyaradzi Njuga in the 10th minute.
The side won the division with a game to spare after they reached an unassailable 56 points.
They face Cheetahs this weekend.
