THE Zambezi Eagles wrapped up their participation at the Telkom Netball League Tuesday morning with a 41-50 defeat to Golden Fireballs at Sun City Sun Park, in South Africa.

It was their last game for Power Week Two, and for the tournament.

The national select side had a slow start to the game as they could not carry the momentum from their last game when they beat North West Flames on Saturday.

Zambezi Eagles assistant coach Stembile Banda conceded they lost to a better side.

“Unfortunately, today, we had a lot of scoring opportunities but it wasn’t our day, we failed to utilise the scoring opportunities.

“We had a lot of unforced errors on our part. We weren’t clinical that much,” said Banda.

The Fireballs, took the lead from the outset and were 15-9 up in the first quarter.

They maintained the six-goal lead in the second and third quarter as they were more clinical compared to their Zimbabwean opponents.

They stretched their lead in the last quarter to win the match 50-41 and complete a double over the Eagles.
