THE highly anticipated Carling Black Label National Pool Tournament is set to return with high hopes of drawing even greater excitement from players and communities across Zimbabwe.
This year, the tournament is bigger than ever, with five new towns joining the action. The new entrants include Plumtree, Chegutu, Nyanga, Chirundu, and Kariba.
Regional qualifiers are already underway at selected venues, supported by the Zimbabwe Pool Association (ZIPA) and local traders, who are ensuring smooth and professional gameplay.
For over a decade, this premier competition has run in partnership with ZIPA and has been a driving force in popularising pool at the grassroots level.
“The sport has seen remarkable growth, with local bars and bottle stores becoming hubs for competitive play,” said a statement from sponsors Delta Corporation Limited.
“These tournaments not only fuel passion for the game but also boost business for venue owners, making it a win-win for all.
“Registration for the Carling Black Label Pool Tournament has commenced. Regional games started on the 31st of May 2025 and will be running for ten (10) weeks until the 2nd of August 2025.”
Participants are expected to increase, battling to win the following prizes:
1st place – US $2,500-00 and a professional pool table
2nd place – USD1,500 -00
3rd place – USD1,000-00
4th place – USD500-00
“Carling Black Label and ZIPA remain committed to fair play and as such, have trained over 60 referees nationwide to ensure the highest standards of fairness and professionalism because only true ‘Champions at Play’ deserve recognition.
“As the competition heats up, we wish all participants the best of luck.”
The finals are scheduled for August 9 at a venue to be announced in due course.
