Since taking part in the Africom Zimbabwe Open in January, professional boxers have been starved of competition and several professional golfers have since reverted to playing in the amateur tournaments to stay in shape.
The proposed Zambezi Tour, which was expected to bring joy for professional golfers, does not have a calendar yet.
Mike Mahachi the Zambezi Tour chairman is however, hopeful that tournaments will come for the golfers although no sponsors have come on board yet.
Last year the golfers played in eight local tournaments and things were expected to improve as the new governing body specialises in looking for sponsorship.
“There will be game time for professional golfers. The calendar will be out soon and we are looking forward to new sponsors to come on board,” Mahachi said.
Meanwhile Brenda Tilowakuti won the Midlands stroke play at the Rowland Park Golf Club in Zvishavane recently. The golfer playing off 10 handicap carded 80 and 85 to come out tops in the championship division.
The tournament attracted 41 players who took to the field.
Aulia Alfazema was on second with a gross score of 166 having scored 84 and 82 while Yolanda Mubaiwa was third.
Arcy Zerf was fourth while veteran Jessie Nyakatawa settled for fifth place.
Shamiso Makwara finished sixth with Loice Chingono coming a seventh.
