Cape TOWN. — Zambia has reportedly squashed non-governmental organisations’ call for the distribution of condoms to inmates in prisons, saying the move would promote homosexuality and sodomy which were against the country’s laws.According to Lusaka Times, some NGOs had been advocating the distribution of condoms in prisons as a way of reducing sexually transmitted diseases.
But Home Affairs Minister Ngosa Simbyakula said government was not in support of the calls and asked “What are they going to be used for?”
Churches have also sided with government, saying the proposal was “immoral and against Christian values”. — News24.
