Mashonaland West Bureau Chief

Police in Makuti have arrested a Zambian national who was trying to sneak fake pharmaceutical drugs into the country.
The suspect, who was a passenger in a Harare-bound crossborder bus, was arrested at a roadblock in Makuti after going through normal clearance procedures at the boarder.

Officer commanding police in Mashonaland West Province, Commissioner Tawonei Nyazema confirmed the development and said people should help in the fight against drug and substance abuse by providing the police with information on peddlers and users.

Commissioner Nyazema spoke about the issue after he was called to the podium by Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marian Chombo during an investment symposium that was held in Chinhoyi today.

Minister Chombo said local authorities should avail land for the construction of rehabilitation centres to complement Government in fighting drug abuse.
