THE country’s reigning Miss Tourism Zimbabwe 2026, Zanele Moyo, has assured her supporters that her journey to represent the country on the global stage remains firmly on course despite an unexpected change in the international pageant calendar.

Moyo has announced that Miss Tourism International 2026 competition, which was initially scheduled to take place in July in China, has been postponed to November 2026 by the organisers.

The development has also led to the postponement of her send-off fundraising dinner, which had been set for June 26 in Bulawayo.

In a statement addressed to sponsors, partners, supporters, family, friends and Zimbabweans at large, Moyo said the decision was made following official communication from the Miss Tourism International Organisation.

The postponement, while unexpected, has been received positively by the beauty queen, who views the additional months as an opportunity to strengthen her preparations ahead of one of the world’s most prestigious tourism and cultural pageants.

“In light of this development, we have also made the decision to postpone the Send-Off Fundraising Dinner, which had been scheduled for 26 June 2026. A new date will be announced in due course,” said Moyo.

The fundraising dinner had been expected to bring together corporate sponsors, tourism stakeholders, government representatives, friends and supporters in a bid to raise resources for Zimbabwe’s participation at the international competition.

Moyo, however, stressed that the postponement does not diminish the significance of the journey ahead but instead offers valuable time to refine every aspect of her campaign as she prepares to fly the national flag in China later this year.

The beauty queen used the opportunity to thank the many individuals and organisations that have rallied behind her since she assumed the national tourism crown.

“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has stood by me on this incredible journey. To the businesses, organisations, sponsors, partners, friends, family members and individuals who have shown unwavering love, support and belief in my vision – thank you. Your encouragement means the world to me,” she said.

Since being crowned Miss Tourism Zimbabwe 2026, Moyo has positioned herself as a passionate ambassador for the country’s tourism industry, cultural heritage and national identity.

Her campaign has focused on promoting Zimbabwe’s diverse cultural traditions, scenic landscapes and hospitality while encouraging domestic and international tourism.

With several months now available before the competition takes place, Moyo believes the postponement will ultimately strengthen Zimbabwe’s representation on the global stage.

“While this change in schedule comes unexpectedly, we embrace it as an opportunity. The additional time will allow us to prepare even more thoroughly and ensure that when I step onto the international stage, I represent the very best of Zimbabwe,” she said.

She highlighted her intention to showcase the country’s rich cultural diversity, heritage, traditional cuisine and world-renowned tourism attractions, while also celebrating the resilience and warmth of Zimbabwean people.

The November competition will provide Moyo with a platform to market Zimbabwe to an international audience, reinforcing tourism promotion efforts at a time when the country continues to position itself as a premier travel destination in Africa.

Despite the delay, Moyo remains optimistic and focused on the task ahead.

“I remain committed to carrying our nation’s story with pride and showcasing Zimbabwe to the world with excellence and authenticity,” she said.

She also appealed for continued support and patience from stakeholders and well-wishers as preparations continue toward the rescheduled event.

“Thank you for your continued support, patience and prayers. Together, we look forward to November 2026 with renewed excitement and determination.”

For Moyo and her growing support base, the road to China may now be slightly longer than anticipated, but the destination remains the same: representing Zimbabwe with distinction and using the global platform to celebrate the nation’s culture, tourism potential and enduring spirit.
