PREPARATIONS for the Zanu-PF 21st Annual National People’s Conference to be held at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre (ZIEC) in Bulawayo are now at 95 percent with the party stressing that it will limit the number of delegates.
The conference will run from 22 to 27 October under the theme: “Industrialise and Modernise Towards the Attainment of Vision 2030.”
Addressing the National Co-ordinating Committee on Friday, the party’s National Chairperson, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri said the preparations were at an advanced stage and nearing completion.
“We are happy to report that already, our agenda and programmes for the conference are in place. We have already agreed on the delegates that will be attending. We are almost 95 percent ready in terms of preparations for the upcoming conference.

“This is our third meeting as a national coordinating committee to exchange notes. This committee comprises all the departments that are relevant in preparations for any conference or congress,” she said.
Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri said the conference is essentially a policy review indaba where there would be robust discussions on refining party policies to align them with the country’s economic development goals.
“It’s not everyone who will attend. It will be the Politburo members, Central Committee members, National Consultative Assembly members, provincial executive members and district co-ordinating committees and that also applies to organs of the party.”

A number of issues, including the state of the party, the state of the economy, agriculture and food security at household level, delivering prosperity to the people and restoring the country’s glory, will come under discussion.
At the conference, the Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion, Professor Mthuli Ncube, will give a detailed report on the state of the economy.
Mines and Mining Development Minister Winston Chitando is expected to present a report on the state of mining while the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, Dr Anxious Masuka, will give a detailed report on the state of agriculture.

This year, the country was hit hard by drought and the Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare July Moyo will present interventions by the Government to ensure that no one will starve.
Meanwhile, the local organizing committee in Bulawayo has warned members of the party against using the name of the party to solicit donations from the business community saying the party has laid out defined and transparent channels of receiving donations.
Zanu-PF politburo member and Secretary for Business Development Cde Elifasi Mashaba said the people of Bulawayo are privileged to host this landmark event, which will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the socio-economic landscape of the city and the entire Matabeleland region.
“To facilitate further contributions, we warn members of the party against approaching the business community and using the name of the party to ask for donations. Monetary donations can be deposited at the FBC Bank’s Robert Mugabe branch into the Zanu-PF Conference account 1062541020102 for ZiG and 1062541020103 for USD, while material donations can be delivered to Hon Modi’s warehouse,” said Cde Mashaba.
He assured contributors that all financial and material donations would be properly documented and accounted for, reinforcing the party’s commitment to transparency.–@nyeve14
