ZANU PF candidates who will contest in the forthcoming by-election will go for orientation at the Chitepo School of Ideology to understand the party’s ethos and ideology.
The party is prepared to contest in the nine impending by-elections set for December 9 triggered by the first round of CCC recalls.
The by-elections were necessitated by the recalling of nine CCC constituency members of the National Assembly along with five proportional representation members and nine senators by the opposition party’s interim secretary-general Mr Sengezo Tshabangu.
The by-elections will be held in Cowdray Park, Mpopoma-Mzilikazi, Lobengula-Magwegwe, Lupane East, Bulawayo South, Nketa, Binga North, MabvukuTafara and Beitbridge West with the remaining five seats made vacant by the recalling of proportional representation legislators being filled on CCC nominations, as is the case with the nine Senate seats.
The party’s national political commissar Cde Mike Bimha said that Zanu PF candidates should acquire the proper ideological training.
This follows a tour of the Matabeleland South, Matabeleland South, Bulawayo and Harare provinces where by-elections are scheduled for December 9.
“There is a need to ensure that our candidates have the appropriate ideological training and in the process, ensure that the generality of our membership are also in the same vein,” Cde Bimha said.
Cde Bimha is optimistic that the ruling party Zanu PF will win the by-elections
“A lot of progress has been made so far. Our teams are already on the ground. We are happy with the preparations so far, and the involvement of everyone in the structures to make sure that we register victory,” he said.
