Bulawayo comes alive this week as the city is hosting thousands of delegates from across the country, attending the Zanu-PF annual conference.
Various activities have been organised to entertain visitors after the discussions with the conference set to culminate in a gala event on Saturday at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre grounds.
A stellar line-up of artistes is set to perform at the gala, including Selmor Mtukudzi, Sandra Ndebele, Peter Moyo, the Police Band, Diana Samkange, Silent Killer, Ndunge Yut, Tammy Moyo, Chase Skuza, Mzoe7, Progress Chipfumo, Juntal, Chief Shumba, Mic Inity and Sikhobhodo, among others.

Popular music promoter, Partson Chimbodza aka “Chipaz,” one of the gala’s co-ordinators, confirmed that everything is in place.
“So far, all is in order. We have artistes from all over, with the majority hailing from Bulawayo. The gala will feature a diverse range of entertainment, including poetry, dance, choir performances and music,” he said.
Several artistes expressed their excitement about the upcoming gala. Musician, Mzoe7 shared his gratitude for the opportunity to perform at such a prestigious national event.
“I feel honoured to be trusted to perform at this national gala at my age. It’s inspiring to see the organisers promoting local talent alongside internationally recognised artistes, which is great for tourism.
“This event will showcase the incredible talent we have in Zimbabwe,” he said.
“As always, I’ll deliver a memorable performance that keeps the audience talking long after the gala.”
A gala regular, jazz artiste, Diana Samkange said the gala provides artistes with a valuable platform to market their work.

“Performing at national events has significantly boosted my career and expanded my fan base. Fans can expect a great mbira vibe, the sound of Dzimbahwe,” she stated.
Peter Dewa Moro encouraged fans to come ready to dance.
“We’re excited to perform and will be showcasing something from our new album. It’s an honour to be part of the gala, which reflects the hard work I’ve put into the entertainment sector.”
The local entertainment sector in Bulawayo is also geared to host guests and keep them entertained during their stay. Emmanuel Mahaso, manager at Cosmopolitan nightclub, mentioned their preparations. “We’re excited to host guests for the conference and are spicing things up by bringing in DJ Liz as a guest on Friday.
On Saturday, we’ll keep the energy high with DJs StokSwit and Crazy Dee.

“We welcome all our visitors for the conference and hope they enjoy the best entertainment the city has to offer,” he said.
KoSamuriwo Pub and Grill in the ghetto will likely be the place to be as it hosts a special braai festival for delegates tomorrow. Entertainment will be provided by Khaya Arts, with DJ Mzoe on the decks. On Sunday, DJ Nospa, alongside resident DJs, will also set the roof on fire at what has been dubbed the “Conference Shutdown” event.
Meanwhile, it is all systems go for the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Anti-Sanctions music concert, taking place tonight at Habane Stadium in Esigodini. Themed : “Embracing Innovation Towards Vision 2030: The Relentless Fight Against Illegal Sanctions,” the event will showcase another star-studded line-up of Zimbabwe’s top musical talent.
Performers include Jah Master, Sandra Ndebele, Chief Hwenje, DJ Fantan, Iyasa, Godolude, Jeys Marabini, Clement Magwaza, Sasha Madube, Manine, Mzoe7, Madlela Skhobokhobo, Simon Mutambi, Jah Signal, Mbare Chimurenga and Mark Ngwazi, all eager to deliver unforgettable performances.
