THE 7th Zanu PF National People’s Congress is an important event that the people of Palestine cannot ignore, given the excellent relations that exist between the two sister countries.

This was said by head of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) delegation to the Zanu PF congress, Minister Ibrahim Aouelnaga.

He is accompanied by member of the Revolutionary Council of FATAH Movement advisor, Mahmoud Wawi.

They are part of foreign delegates who arrived on Wednesday for the congress.

Minister Aouelnaga said: “I want to congratulate our friends and comrades in Zimbabwe for organising the Zanu PF congress. We consider this conference very important and we call it as President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas mentioned that the Zanu PF congress is the challenge conference.

“We are here to support the congress and we want this congress to represent the Zimbabwean unification against the illegal sanctions, which are refused totally from our Palestinian side. We have a lot of similarities between the Zimbabwean and the Palestinian stories because we all suffered from the colonial regimes.

“You have our full support from our President Mahmoud Abbas.”

Minister Aouelnaga said in Palestine they faced massacres every day, which were committed by the Israeli occupation.

He said they acknowledge the support they get from Zimbabwe in their fight against occupation.

“We highly appreciate your solidarity and your support to our people,” he said.

Mr Wawi said he was convinced that Zimbabwe will win the fight against illegal sanctions.

“We have a philosophy and key understanding about Africa. This country among other nations of Africa, suffered colonialism, apartheid and occupation as the Palestinian are suffering right now. So we have a lot of similarities,” he said.

Palestinian Ambassador to Zimbabwe Tamer Almassri said: “The Embassy of the State of Palestine does not only represent the Palestinian leadership and the people here in Zimbabwe, but we also represent the Republic of Zimbabwe in Palestine because we have a common task to upgrade and strengthen the bilateral relations between our two friendly countries.”
