GOROMONZI Ward 24 Councillor Valentine Machaya (ZANU PF) has donated 17 new wheelchairs to people living with disabilities from her ward.

The councillor also held a Christmas party for the vulnerable from her ward where she shared food with them, highlighting her commitment to positively impacting the vulnerable in society.

In an interview with Zimpapers on the sidelines of the event, Clr Machaya said she was inspired by President Mnangagwa’s generosity as well as his commitment to uplift people’s lives across Zimbabwe.

“Last year, I held a Christmas party for the vulnerable, including orphans in my ward and children living with disabilities could not make it to the venue because of the mode of transport I had,” he said.

“So this year, I decided to bring the Christmas cheer to them. I bought and gave them 17 wheelchairs. I also gave 17 walking sticks to the elderly who are struggling with walking. I was inspired by our President, Dr Emmerson D Mnangagwa, in doing this. I am also following the Vision 2030 aspect, which the President is always preaching about. We should leave no one and no place behind.

“I am excited to be doing this noble work, which is intended to improve the livelihoods of those living with disabilities.”

The vulnerable also received food hampers from Seke Constituency Member of Parliament Cde Munyaradzi Kashambe (ZANU PF).

“Cde Kashambe donated hampers to them, and we had a lovely moment with the people. I want to thank the legislator for the gesture,” she said.
