THE Communist Party of China (CPC) and ZANU PF are building coordination to promote their countries’ development through the establishment of people-centred policies, the leader of a visiting CPC delegation has said.

Deputy Director General of the CPC Centre for International Exchange Cde Yao Jianguo is in Zimbabwe leading a six-member delegation to share notes and build alliances with ZANU PF.

He is accompanied by vice president of the Party School of the Anhui Provincial Committee of the CPC, Cde Meng Xiangxue and other members of China’s ruling party, including Cdes Xie Lunyu, Luo Junli and Yin Huafeng.

The delegation yesterday visited the ZANU PF headquarters where they held discussions with ZANU PF political commissar Cde Munyaradzi Machacha and also made a presentation at the ruling party’s Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology in Harare.

In the presentation, Cde Yao spoke on the need to work towards the development of the two countries and to improve relations.

“Zimbabwe and China have always held each other’s hands and worked towards defending the territorial integrity of the two countries.

“Excellent relations between the two countries date back to the days of the liberation struggle and there is a need for Zimbabwe to learn from China, now the second largest economy in the world,” said Mr Yao.

He noted that China has provided technical cooperation and Chinese businesses have invested in many sectors of the economy.

The presentation also focused on undertaking a comprehensive understanding of the global environment.

In his remarks, Cde Machacha said the Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology provided political consciousness to office bearers and party members to understand the values and ethos of the party.

“Our discussions underscore the necessity of collaboration to forge a new future and narrative in our development, particularly in response to external pressures.

“To modernise our countries and boost trade, we must maintain regular meetings to effectively utilise local resources,” he said.

Cde Machacha said the ideological school would help to articulate the Government’s policies and programmes to members.

ZANU PF, he said, is working towards registering a number youths in their cell registers to contribute immensely in the 2028 elections.

“One of our key objectives is to win the hearts of the electorate ahead of the 2028 elections. We are collaborating with the Youth League to engage young people nationwide. We have several empowerment programmes designed to create opportunities for them to earn a decent living,” Cde Machacha said.

“We are equipping our youth with skills to help them secure jobs or engage in self-help projects”.

He also said the party recognises the importance of the social media landscape, saying it is essential to correct negative narratives.

“We must focus on reporting positive stories, sharing our own experiences, and ensuring that our youth are not misled by lies and fake news,” said Cde Machacha.
