Zanu PF has advised citizens to ignore a fake message circulating on social media platforms purporting that the revolutionary party was offering scholarships to disadvantaged people.
The message, which has circulated widely on WhatsApp, claims Zanu PF intends to assist students wishing to pursue studies abroad with scholarships, from undergraduate to PhD level.
In a statement yesterday, Zanu PF acting director for Information and Publicity Cde Chiratidzo Malinganisa said the party had noted with concern the fake call for applications for scholarships.
“Pursuant to that, Zanu PF wishes to advise the public that the said advert is fake and an act of mischief.
“The referred e-mail address does not belong to the revolutionary party.
“It does not exist. It must further be stated that Zanu PF does not facilitate any kind of scholarships. Therefore, the public is advised to ignore the advert and guard against being duped by anyone purporting to represent Zanu PF,” said Cde Malinganisa.
She said citizens seeking to benefit from scholarships should approach the Government and other bona fide institutions for assistance.
Cde Malinganisa advised the public to be wary of conmen, who spread fake news through social media platforms.
