Zanu-PF forms empowerment taskforce

Zanu-PF Masvingo provincial chairman Cde Lovemore Matuke said the revolutionary party had decided to constitute the taskforce to spearhead economic empowerment programmes at its recent provincial co-ordinating committee meeting.
Cde Matuke said the committee had already started work in a bid to add impetus to the economic empowerment drive aimed at lifting the majority of poor Zimbabweans from economic alienation.
“We have since formed a provincial taskforce that will spearhead economic empowerment in Masvingo because there was a feeling across the party that the province was lagging behind in terms of the ongoing empowerment drive as compared to other provinces so the committee will add more impetus to the programme through identifying sectors that can easily be taken advantage of to engender economic empowerment,” said Cde Matuke.
The Masvingo provincial chairman added that the taskforce had already agreed on terms of reference and timelines that will guide the empowerment drive.
He said Masvingo had a lot of companies and natural resources that could be tapped to fulfil the goals of the economic empowerment programmes.
Government has already rolled out the Community Share Ownership Scheme where companies especially in mining have already committed shares to local communities.
