Zanu-PF holds primary elections in Chipinge ward

ZANU-PF last week held local authority primary elections in Chipinge West’s Ward 1 with Cde Manyanga winning the contest. The seat fell vacant following the death of Cde Albert Mzimba, who died on October 20, 2014. The elections were held in a peaceful environment with Cde Manyanga amassing 205 votes, followed by Cde Lovemore Saungweme, who garnered 102 votes.

The other contestants who took part in the election were Cdes Harrison Tuso, who got 69 votes, Silence Korai (40 votes), Major Maposa (13 votes) and Changunduna, who managed 4 votes.

Cde Ndoko Momberume, who was the seventh candidate, withdrew from the race just before the election.
The elections, which were held at Maunganidze Primary School, were conducted by provincial executive members Cdes Joshua Murire, Pastor Chapfiwa and Gladys Mposhi.

Speaking after his victory, Cde Manyanga urged Zanu-PF supporters to unite and work for the party‘s strengthening.
“I would like to thank you for trusting me to be your candidate. We hope Zanu-PF will retain this ward which fell vacant following the untimely death of our fellow comrade.
“Let me make it clear that we are a family and we need to be united,” he said.
