ZANU-PF Matabeleland South provincial leadership are today meeting at Esikhoveni Training Centre in Esigodini for an induction seminar meant to sharpen their leadership skills.Zanu-PF national chairman Cde Simon Khaya Moyo is expected to address delegates to the two-day seminar that will be attended by MPs and Senators among other leaders.

Zanu-PF Matabeleland South provincial spokesperson Cde Malaki Nkomo said: “The seminar is meant to sharpen leadership skills of newly elected MPs and Senators as well as members of the provincial executive. During the seminar, facilitators will spell out the leaders’ roles in government and in their constituencies,” he said.

“Politburo and Central Committee members will also attend the seminar and some of them will chair some of the sessions.”
Cde Nkomo said it was important for members of the provincial executive and Parliamentarians to have an understanding of what was expected of them in the discharge of their duties.

“We want to avoid unnecessary squabbles caused by failure to understand one’s role and responsibility,” said Cde Nkomo, who is also Insiza South MP.

He said a wide range of topics will be discussed by the 200 participants expected at the meeting.
“Cde Kembo Mohadi will chair the session on the Zanu-PF ideology, principles and policies. Clerk of Parliament Austin Zvoma will discuss the relationship and roles of parliamentarians in government and constituencies, as well as disciplinary procedures,” said Cde Nkomo.

He said the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs in Matabeleland South Cde Abednico Ncube, who has been ill for some time, will also attend the workshop.

Zanu-PF won all the 13 seats in Matabeleland South in last year’s harmonised elections and the province was awarded $15, 000 and a trophy for being the most organized party province in the country during the party’s Annual National People’s Conference in Chinhoyi.
