Zanu-PF lifts Matuke suspension

THE former Zanu-PF chairman for Masvingo province, Cde Lovemore Matuke is now a happy man following the lifting of his suspension by the party’s disciplinary committee last month.
Cde Matuke was suspended over allegations of approving the candidature of expelled Gutu East House of Assembly member Dr Munyaradzi Kereke ahead of the harmonised elections last year.

Cde Matuke’s suspension was reportedly lifted by the party’s disciplinary committee together with former Manicaland provincial chairperson, Cde Mike Madiro and national youth member, Cde Kudakwashe Sindu.

In a telephone interview, Cde Matuke said he was elated by the decision taken by the party’s disciplinary committee, saying the decision was long overdue.

“I would want to thank the authorities at Zanu-PF especially the central committee and politburo for living up to my expectations and that of the whole province. Although I am yet to get official communication to that effect, I am very happy with the decision taken by my party. I am receiving numerous congratulatory messages from friends and party colleagues. At least I can afford a sigh of relief following this landmark ruling,” Cde Matuke said.

“The lifting of my suspension was long overdue but I knew that it would come one day. It also shows that our party is a party of principles and also adheres to its constitution.”

The Gutu Central House of Assembly member said Zanu-PF cadres respected the constitution and would allow due processes to take place in unison.

“I am grateful to the First Secretary and President of the country, Cde Robert Mugabe for the move taken in lifting my suspension. Due to his wisdom that he has imparted into the politburo and central committee, my issue and that of others was fairly dealt with. I am on cloud nine as I am speaking to you now,” he said.

Cde Matuke said despite the setback he continued serving the party in his constituency and                                       province.

“Despite the suspension I remained loyal to my party because I am not a mere party cadre but I have steadfast understanding of the party’s ethos, ethics and values. The fact that it is during my tenure that Zanu-PF swept all 26 House of Assembly seats in the province, shows my commitment towards the party. I worked very hard and I am offering myself to the new chairman, Cde Calisto Gwanetsa, for any help that he may need. I now feel more rejuvenated and ready to work for my party in any capacity,” he said.
