ZANU-PF Manicaland Province has resolved to align the tenure of the party leadership structures, from cell level to the Central Committee, with Constitutional Amendment Act Number 3 to run until 2030.

The resolutions were read by the party’s provincial deputy secretary for administration, Advocate Fungai Chimwamurombe, who represented the secretary for administration, Cde Sam Matema today in Mutare during the provincial inter-district meeting.

The party also unanimously agreed to support President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s continued leadership of the party and Government beyond 2030.

Said Cde Advocate Chimwamurombe: “We acknowledge the visionary leadership of His Excellency, President and First Secretary of ZANU-PF, Comrade Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa, and congratulate him on the successful and peaceful adoption of Constitutional Amendment Act Number 3.

“ZANU-PF Manicaland Province resolves that President Mnangagwa continue serving as President and First Secretary of the party up to 2030 and beyond, to sustain the developmental trajectory under Vision 2030.

“The province also calls for the alignment of the ZANU-PF constitution with Constitutional Amendment Act Number 3, particularly on the tenure of party leadership structures from cell level to the Central Committee,” he said.

“The province further called for the party’s constitution and the Chitepo School of Ideology to remain key guiding principles on the conduct and discipline of members.

It also resolved that disciplinary cases be handled decisively and expeditiously, while factionalism in all its forms should not be tolerated as it creates divisions and instability within the party,” he said.

Other resolutions include the full implementation of the party’s social media code of conduct, translation of the ZANU-PF constitution into all constitutionally recognised languages, and improved availability of party regalia to enhance the party’s visibility.

He added that the province also called for transparent candidate selection during internal elections and co-option processes, with preference given to individuals with a traceable political history.

“The resolutions further call for empowerment funds for lower party structures, support for senior and long-serving party leaders and retired staff, and the decentralisation of the Chitepo School of Ideology to provincial level,” he said.

On economic issues, the province called for continued focus on food security, nutrition and macro-economic stability.

The province also highlighted several development projects in Manicaland under the Second Republic, including the expansion of Forbes Border Post, Feruka Pipeline expansion, construction of a new Mutare Dry Port, road rehabilitation projects, irrigation schemes and the Presidential Rural Development Programme.

Guest of honour, ZANU PF treasurer-general, Cde Patrick Chinamasa, said he agreed with most of ZANU PF Manicaland resolution provisions mainly on extension of term office of party leadership and align it with the Constitution Amendment Act Number 3, saying internal elections divide the party.

“I agree that the party leadership should continue in their roles until 2030 in line with the Constitutional Amendment Act Number 3.

“We hope the conference will accept our resolution when presented in Chinhoyi. I support this because elections divide the party I was a member of the disciplinary committee and many cases of disciplinary emanates from primary elections,” he said.

Cde Chinamasa also said he noted some gaps on the party resolutions including omission of cell digitalisation process and supporting road to mono currency,” he said.

ZANU PF Manicaland provincial chairperson, Cde Tawand Mukodza, said the resoultions that were presented were agreed by all party districts across the province.

“The resolutions being presented today comes from all party members across the province. Party members were given the opportunity to put their input and what is being presented is a combined input from all districts in the province,” he said.
