ZANU PF’s Mashonaland East Province has hailed Zimbabwe’s election to the United Nations Security Council, describing the development as a strong endorsement of President Mnangagwa’s leadership and the country’s re-engagement efforts.
The commendation was made at a Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting held at the party’s offices in Marondera on Saturday.
Provincial chairman Cde Daniel Garwe said the overwhelming support Zimbabwe received from the international community reflected growing global confidence in the country.
“First and foremost, let me ask all of us to rejoice as we congratulate President Mnangagwa for Zimbabwe’s election to the United Nations Security Council,” said Cde Garwe.
“You may need to know that out of 192 nations, about 182 voted for Zimbabwe. This shows that the world trusts President Mnangagwa’s leadership. They believe in Zimbabwe’s leadership.”
Cde Garwe attributed the achievement to the President’s engagement and re-engagement policy, saying it was a result of sustained diplomatic efforts led through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
“We want to applaud President Mnangagwa for his soft diplomacy which is bearing fruit. He engaged other Presidents through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under Minister Amon Murwira, enabling Zimbabwe to secure this seat,” he said.
Turning to party programmes, Cde Garwe urged members across the province to fully participate in the upcoming Cell Day scheduled for June 27, 2026.
“President Mnangagwa has set June 27 of every year as ZANU PF Cell Day. I am urging all members to ensure full attendance. There is no other day but June 27,” he said.
He also commended the province for maintaining discipline, unity and peace, noting a marked decline in social media-related indiscipline.
“Social media abuse is now a thing of the past in our province. Even the youth are exhibiting high levels of discipline and unity. I want to thank you all for this,” he said.
Cde Garwe further called on members to remain united in support of Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3, which he said was now at an advanced stage.
“We were united from the beginning of this process, and we have reached a stage where it is unstoppable. We must continue to work together and build a legacy for future generations,” he said.
He added that the province should align itself with national development priorities under the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2), which focuses on accelerating economic growth across key sectors.
In her remarks, ZANU PF Secretary for Women’s Affairs, Cde Mabel Chinomona, also commended the province for its support of the Constitutional Amendment Bill and urged members to remain focused on strengthening the party.
“Let us remain united and disciplined as a province. The party requires people who focus on building and strengthening it, not those who seek to destroy it,” she said.
