ZANU PF chairman for Mashonaland East, Cde Daniel Garwe, has urged the province to continue respecting the President, his deputies and all leaders as well as shun social media abuse.
Cde Garwe made the call while addressing party members during the Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting held at the party’s provincial offices in Marondera on Sunday.
This was the first PCC meeting of 2026 and morale was high as the province charts the course to further strengthen the party.
“What makes me happy is the spirit of oneness and love that is prevailing here today. I am optimistic that this spirit will continue to prevail as we work as a team around the clock to strengthen the revolutionary party, through unity and discipline,” he said.
“Let us not use social media to pull each other down. Let us not allow social media to divide us.
“As a province, I implore you to continue to respect and honor our President, Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa.
“We should also respect his deputies, Cde Constantino Chiwenga and Cde Kembo Mohadi. Remember, Cde Chiwenga is from our province, Mashonaland East. Let us respect all our leaders, Politburo members and everyone who is a leader. If we do not respect them, who then will do that?”
Cde Garwe called on party members to use social media to defend the party at all levels.
“ZANU PF is the backbone of Zimbabwe. We are the ruling party and we should defend our party at all times,” he said.
“Where our President is being belittled and scolded on social media, we should come out and defend him. Where party leaders are being disrespected on social media, we should defend them.
“We must be known for our outstanding unity and unparalleled loyalty. This should define us as ZANU PF. Let us defend this party. Unity is key. Let us also love one another and forgive each other where we have offended one another. There is no way our party will remain strong if we do not have unity, love and tolerance.”
Cde Garwe urged districts to conduct inter-district meetings without fail.
He informed the meeting that all Conference resolutions were now being implemented.
“As you are aware, we held our Conference in Manicaland Province last year and some resolutions were made,” he said.
“So it is time for those resolutions to be implemented. Our party ZANU PF will implement some of the resolutions from the party’s side and the Government will also implement resolutions aligned to it. Also, it is important to know and understand that resolution Number 1 is there to stay.”

True we should respect our elders in general and those who fought for our freedom and are still with us in particular. The President is no ordinary person so are his deputies, all the war veterans and all those who still bear scars of the war of liberation. Members of ZANU-PF and the rest of the people who don’t fall into these categories have no reason to disrespect these elders. It is why it is not wise for anyone to politically oppose the current ZANU-PF leadership. The spirits of Dzimbabwe will not allow that to happen hence we have seen opposition parties disintegrate ever so often. Respect for those who laid their lives for the liberation of this country is sacrosanct. It’s not negotiable unfortunately.
