The ZANU PF leadership in Mashonaland West is working tirelessly to surpass its target of 10 640 constituted party cells.
To date, at least 8 600 cells have been verified in the ongoing exercise across the province.
The target, if met, means Mashonaland West Province will contribute over 530 000 voters to the party’s database.
Provincial Political Commissar, Cde Joachim Yotamu, said the leadership was now conducting a mop-up exercise of verifying the remaining cells.
“We are now conducting a mop-up exercise to verify our cells. Our target is to surpass 10 640 constituted cells as our membership continues to grow,” he said.
Cde Yotamu noted that the province had also recorded a significant number of returnees from the opposition parties.
Mashonaland West Province contributed over 300 000 votes to President Mnangagwa in the 2023 harmonised elections.
President Mnangagwa won the presidential election after garnering 52,6 percent of the total votes cast.
President Mnangagwa had 2 350 711 votes while Nelson Chamisa of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) got 1 967 343 votes.
