A ZANU PF affiliate in Masvingo, The Vision 2030 Focus, has embarked on a registration blitz targeting mainly youths to become official members of the ruling party across the province.
The Vision 2030 Focus has set a target to register 1000 youths in Masvingo district by year end in a programme that will cascade to other districts.
The affiliate’s Masvingo provincial chair, Cde Wilfred Murima, said the registration blitz was now in full swing.
“We have started a registration blitz where we are targeting mainly youths who we are assisting to be issued with Zanu PF membership cards so that they become official members of the ruling party,” Cde Murima said.
“Our programme started in Masvingo district and over the past month we have facilitated that 100 youths get party membership cards and these registered members will be our coordinators who will spearhead the registration blitz in the remaining 6 districts in Masvingo province.”
Cde Murima said his organisation was inspired by the tangible socio-economic projects being implemented by the Second Republic under President Mnangagwa.
“We decided to take advantage of the unprecedented excitement and support for Zanu PF amongst youths at the moment driven by President Mnangagwa’s stewardship of the economy that has set Zimbabwe on course to attain upper middle income society status by the year 2030.”
According to Cde Murima, The Vision 2030 Focus wanted to translate growing support for President Mnangagwa within the youth population into real numbers for Zanu PF.
“Gone are the days when people used to support the ruling party only by word of mouth, we are moving into action where every Zanu PF member should have a membership card and we want that to happen in Masvingo province.”
The Zimbabwe Vision 2030 Focus Masvingo chapter was also in the process of assisting newly registered Zanu PF members to benefit from empowerment projects in spheres such as mining, agriculture and even in sports.
In sports, the Zanu PF affiliate was already clearing the ground to partner Scottland Football Club in setting up a junior football nursery for the ambitious Mabvuku-based Premiership side.
“We are working on the premise that come 2030, the majority of our Zanu PF youths will each have something tangible borne out of their support of the home of the revolution under President Mnangagwa,” added Cde Murima.
The Vision 2030 Focus was also instrumental in mobilising support for the Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3 during the outreach meetings in Masvingo province.
