THE Zanu-PF leadership in Masvingo has endorsed the ouster of the provincial political commissar Cde Jappy Jaboon for undermining the leadership of the party and forming parallel structures, among a litany of allegations, an official has said.
Provincial secretary for administration Cde Ailes Baloyi said Cde Jaboon had been served with a prohibition order advising him not to be involved in any activity under the party’s name.
“We have sat down as a provincial executive committee (PEC) and recommended that Cde Jaboon be relieved of his duties as political commissar for the province.
“After that we then endorsed the resolution before a provincial coordinating committee (PCC) meeting yesterday (Sunday),” said Cde Baloyi.
He said Cde Jaboon was recently served with a prohibition order that bars him from calling a meeting in Zanu-PF’s name and he (Cde Jaboon) will appear before a provisional disciplinary committee.
“We have overwhelming evidence that Cde Jaboon was interfering with women’s league activities —barring them from demonstrating against the ousted Cde Sarah Mahoko and Cde Eunice Nomthandazo Moyo.
“Failure to have proper records of the party and forming of parallel structures in Bikita where he is a national member of assembly and allowing suspended members to lead party activities, among other allegations,” said Cde Baloyi.
He said the province will summon Cde Jaboon to appear before a disciplinary committee comprising provincial vice chairman, political commissar and five other members, probably in the second week of next month.
“He is expected to answer to charges levelled against him,” said Cde Baloyi.
He said after the hearing, a comprehensive report will be written and sent to the national leadership for approval.
Efforts to get a comment from Cde Jaboon proved fruitless yesterday as his phones were continuously ringing without anyone picking them.
