ZANU-PF Matabeleland North Province yesterday held its first Provincial Co-ordinating Committee (PCC) meeting of the year in Lupane where the party resolved to work towards addressing food shortages in the province.
Provincial chairman Cde Richard Moyo, who chaired the meeting said in a telephone interview that the party will work with Government to ensure that no one dies of hunger.
“As a party and through crisis management by Government and various stakeholders we will work towards averting hunger situation in all the districts in the province,” said Cde Moyo who is also the Minister of State for Matabeleland North Provincial Affairs.
The province is among those hard hit by drought resulting in more households needing food aid to survive. The Government, working with non-governmental organisations has been working tirelessly to ensure that people access food.
“We touched on a number of issues, the main one being that of the current drought and renewal of membership and members that are people-oriented.
“We are going to have meetings that will see the party being restructured to ensure that the people of Zimbabwe are catered for.
“This is the first PCC meeting and we will be having meetings to map our country’s way forward,” said Cde Moyo.
