Addressing Politburo, Central Committee and provincial executive members in Mashonaland West province national chairman Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo said the party faced a watershed election.
“We should never find ourselves in the situation in which we are in today where revolutionaries are put together with reactionaries who do not know anything about the sacrifice that freedom fighters made. If we do not vote resoundingly for Zanu-PF in the forthcoming elections we would let the entire legacy of President Mugabe, the party and freedom fighters go up in smoke,” he said.
Cde Khaya Moyo said the team would effectively deal with factionalism, instances of corruption and rumour mongering among other issues.
“After we conclude this fact-finding mission factionalism, corruption and rumour mongering must be buried, buried and buried for good. Once we bury these we are home and dry,” he said.
He said by the time the team finishes its work, the party should be able to know how it would fare in the forthcoming elections. Cde Khaya Moyo said liberation movements in the region were all under threat from imperialist forces adding that they should unite to ward off imperial manoeuvres.
“If you find a tortoise on the wall, don’t bother it but find the owner. So we have imperialist implants in the guise of opposition who are operating here. We should find those who are behind them,” he said.

Speaking at the same meeting provincial chairman Cde John Mafa said the party was on a better stead to win resoundingly but called for mechanisms to ensure congruency between the party and its affiliate organisations such as war veterans and collaborators to merge their programmes. The meeting was attended by Politburo members Cdes Webster Shamu, Ignatius Chombo, Douglas Mombeshora, James Gumpo and Edna Madzongwe, and Central Committee members among others.
