Preparations for the second edition of the Zanu-PF Harare Provincial Youth Ball Games set for this coming weekend are now complete, organisers have said.
Games chairman and Zanu-PF Harare Provincial Youth Deputy Secretary for Mines and Energy and Harare Councillor Cde Tarusenga Mushininga said this year’s edition would be bigger and better than the inaugural event.
“The games, which will be hosted at the University of Zimbabwe, are going to feature members from Zone 1 to Zone 6,” he said.
“Various artists will provide entertainment during and after the games,” he said.
Cde Mushininga said the games were also being used to encourage young people to stay away from drug and substance abuse in their communities.
He said sport provided youths with a positive way of spending their time while promoting healthy lifestyles, teamwork and community engagement.
In addition, Cde Mushininga said the games provide an initiative to help youths continue the fight against drug and substance abuse in various communities.
“This year we have taken a strong stance to make sure the games help spread the message of fighting against drug and substance abuse, especially among youths and the future generations,” said Mushininga.
The sports gala is also being used by Zanu PF Provincial Youths to celebrate the birthday of the party’s First Secretary President Mnangagwa.
