LEADERS of Zanu PF wings in Mashonaland West have been urged to discharge their duties in line with the party’s constitution to strengthen structures and enhance the implementation of party programmes.
The call comes as the province prepares to host the party’s 23rd National People’s Conference in October.
Speaking during the Mashonaland West Zanu PF Joint Provincial Council meeting held at Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) on Sunday, Provincial Chairperson Cde Mary Mliswa-Chikoka urged the party’s wings to remain focused and fulfill their responsibilities as prescribed by the party’s constitution.
“Our wings have a critical role to play in fulfilling the mandate of the party. We must remain focused, united and committed to executing our responsibilities,” Cde Mliswa-Chikoka said.
Zanu PF Youth League Mashonaland West Chairperson Cde Tapiwa Masenda said the meeting had reinforced the importance of the party’s wings in driving its programmes.
“We have been reminded of our role as the vanguard of the party. This meeting is therefore timely and important as we strengthen our structures and prepare for the tasks ahead,” he said.
Zanu PF Mashonaland West Women’s League Chairperson Cde Constance Shamu said women had a critical role to play in mobilising party structures and supporting upcoming programmes.
“As women, we have a critical role to play towards ensuring the success of the party’s programmes and the upcoming conference. We must mobilise our structures and ensure that women participate fully,” she said.
Meanwhile, the province has so far raised 49 of the 90 cattle it pledged towards the successful hosting of the conference.
Preparations are also underway to rehabilitate the road network in Chinhoyi, while major rehabilitation works are being undertaken along the Harare-Chirundu Highway as the province steps up preparations for the annual event.
