The 22nd Annual National People’s Conference, which is being held at Mutare Polytechnic grounds under the theme ‘Attainment of Vision 2030 through Economic Empowerment and Value Addition’, closes today.
The conference provides an opportunity for the ruling party to refine and refocus the ongoing people-centred revolution to develop, modernise and industrialise the country for the shared prosperity of all communities.

Youth League’s resolutions
Zanu PF Secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Tino Machakaire is now on the podium to present resolutions from the Youth League.
Cde Machakaire highlights the following:
Recognising the work being carried by President Mnangagwa across the country.
The youth also recognise the good work by the First Lady Dr Mnangagwa for fighting the scourge of drug and substance abuse.
The Youth League resolved that President Mnangagwa should continue with his term until 2030.
Capacitate vocational training centres for youth.
Continue allocating agriculture land to the youth.
Promote patriotism by encouraging youth service.
To employ youth service in the public sector.
Increase the current youth quota from 10 to 60.
To ensure local authorities promote recreational activities.
Establish a dedicated sporting channel.
Capacitate Empowerment Bank and Reseve Bank to allocate more funding for youth loans.
To continue fighting against drug and substance abuse.
The youth commended President Mnangagwa for coming up with youth empowerment projects.
Conference resolves to extend President’s term
The Zanu PF Annual People’s Conference has reaffirmed it’s earlier resolution to extend President Mnangagwa’ tenure beyond 2028 and ensure that the requisite constitutional amendments are effected before the next conference.
Announcing several resolutions at the close of the conference this afternoon, Zanu PF Secretary for Legal Affairs, Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi said the conference had noted that there was little movement in the implementation of the resolution since it’s adoption at the last conference held in Bulawayo last year.
“The party and Government are directed to initiate the requisite constitutional amendments to give legal effect to this resolution… All party organs, including the Politburo and the Central Committee, are directed to implement this resolution fully,” said Cde Ziyambi.

Some of the other resolutions include the need to ensure harmonisation of affiliates with the party to ensure cohesion.
“It was also resolved that there be allocation of motor vehicles to all structures to ensure mobility and effectiveness,” said Cde Ziyambi.
The party’s legal and Commissariat department was also directed to come up with guidelines that ensure seamless internal elections.
It was also resolved that upon death, non-combatant cadres be accorded war veteran status, while all veterans of the struggle should get State-assisted funeral.
Cde Muchinguri- Kashiri declares the resolutions adopted
The national chairman, Cde Oppah Muchinguri- Kashiri takes to the podium.
She thanks Cde Ziyambi for tabling the 21st Zanu PF National People’s Conference Resolution Report as well as the 22nd National People Conference Resolutions.
A delegate, Cde Jerry Gotora from Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe, moves a motion to adopt the 22nd Annual People’s Conference Resolutions.
Cde Samson Matema, Manicaland Secretary for Administration, seconds the motion.
Cde Muchinguri- Kashiri declares the resolutions adopted.
Central Committee report adopted
Cde Torerai Moyo from Midlands Province proposes a motion to adopt the Central Committee report.
Cde Garikai Zonde from Bulawayo seconds the motion to adopt.
Therefore the Central Committee report is adopted.
President commends Conference for progressive discussions
President Mnangagwa is now delivering his closing remarks and starts by commending delegates to the 22nd People’s Conference for engaging in progressive discussions.
“I would like to applaud the 22nd National People’s Conference for engaging in discussions that were robust, academic, thoughtful, forward-looking and inclusive.
“The resolutions of our meeting further demonstrate that we are a well-oiled machine,” said the President.
President Mnangagwa says the party must operationalise proposed solutions into deliverable programmes and projects.
“Villages themselves, branches and districts should focus to ensure that they create the right strategies and benchmarks.
“You must realise the economic well-being we have set out and deal with our next generation and beyond.”
