ZANU-PF has set up an ad-hoc committee to supervise the remaining seven provincial elections after other polls from three provinces were plagued with some irregularities and shortcomings. Addressing journalists at the Zanu-PF headquarters yesterday, national chairperson Cde Simon Khaya Moyo said Acting President Joice Mujuru would lead the committee.
“Following the challenges observed in the conduct of the Zanu-PF provincial elections, an ad-hoc committee was appointed to oversee the process in the remaining seven provinces,” said Cde SK Moyo.
Other members of the committee include Cde SK Moyo, secretary for administration Cde Didymus Mutasa, and secretary for the commissariat Cde Webster Shamu.
“The ad-hoc committee met and resolved as follows, the elections for the remaining seven provinces, namely Bulawayo, Harare, Mashonaland East, Mashonaland West, Masvingo, Matabeleland North and Matabeleland South will be held concurrently on November 23 2013,” he said.
“Politburo and Central Committee members will be deployed from the party headquarters to supervise the elections.”
The committee had also appointed team leaders to supervise elections in the remaining provinces.
“Bulawayo would be supervised by Cde Ignatius Chombo, Harare has Cde Sikhanyiso Ndlovu, Mashonaland East Cde Obert Mpofu, Mashonaland West, Cde Dzikamai Mavhaire.
Masvingo province would be supervised by Cde Nicholas Goche, Matabeleland North would be supervised by Cde Sydney Sekeramayi while Matabeleland South would be supervised by Cde David Parirenyatwa.
Cde SK Moyo declined to field questions saying journalists should be guided by the Press statement he had read out to them.
In the three provinces, that the revolutionary party has held elections, complaints had been raised of some irregularities that some party officials said existed.
The Zanu-PF Politburo is set to deliberate on elections for Mashonaland Central province in which incumbent chairperson Cde Dickson Mafios lost to former Muzarabani North legislator Cde Luke Mushore.
Allegations of irregularities plagued Zanu-PF elections in Mashonaland Central province where voting which was suppose to be held on Saturday was extended to Sunday.
Voting was still outstanding as six districts failed to vote.
Voting was still outstanding in Mt Darwin East, Chimanja, Guruve, Kemutamba, Nyahunzvi and Mazowe.
Presidential spokesperson Mr George Charamba said on Wednesday that he had been instructed by President Mugabe to share with the media that the Politburo was still to decide on Mashonaland Central.
