‘Zanu-PF should direct policy’

Sunday Mail Reporter
GOVERNMENT programmes must be led by Zanu-PF policies to ensure delivery on electoral promises, the ruling party’s Secretary for the Youth League has said.
Addressing members of Youth League affiliates, who include the National Youth Service Graduates Association and children of war veterans and ex-political detainees in Harare yesterday, Cde Pupurai Togarepi said Zanu-Pf could best interpret and direct Zimbabwe’s economic development agenda.
“It is unfortunate that despite us as a party producing brilliant policies, we are having problems in implementation because some of our programmes are being sabotaged by (Government) officials,” he said.
“We need to find out why our policies are not working.
‘‘Those who superintend over them are sell-outs and as a party we must be in charge in all our Government departments.”
Cde Togarepi said it was the youth’s responsibility to defend President Mugabe’s legacy and the revolution.
“We need to ensure that we defend what our icon stands for over the years,” he said.
Cde Togarepi urged youths to shun factionalism and focus on the country’s development, adding that it was important for party leaders to groom their children in Zanu-PF’s ethos to ensure continuity.
