ZANU-PF has taken advantage of the 2023 edition of the ZITF to report back to the masses on achievements done in the last five years.
The Second Republic completed more than 7 000 high impact projects throughout the country, staying true to its philosophy of leaving no one and no place behind.
As the country surges towards Vision 2030 of being an upper and middle class income, President Mnangagwa’s administration has embarked on an aggressive road rehabilitation programme under the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme 1 and 2, it has modernised and climate proofed agriculture through mechanisation, irrigation infrastructure and dam construction.
The massive Lake Gwayi-Shangani which will turn Matabeleland North into a green belt while easing Bulawayo’s perennial water woes, is well on course.
The country’s electricity problems will also soon be a thing of the past as the US$1,5 billion Hwange Power Station expansion project will add 600 megawatts to the national grid.
Unit 7 was recently connected to the national grid and is already contributing 300 megawatts.
Speaking at the party’s traditional Hall 5 centre yesterday, the party’s director of economic development and empowerment, Cde Francis Hungwe said the party has come back to report to the people what has been the achievements in carrying the aspirations of the people.
“As we come to ZITF 2023, the home of the ruling party, our theme is Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo/Ilizwe lakhiwa ngabaninilo, leaving no one and no place behind. This is a reflection of what the leadership of the country as led by His Excellency, President ED Mnangagwa has done in the past five years.
“People have been coming through to our stand to see, first hand, what has been achieved by the governing party in all sectors of the economy, be it infrastructure, social work, youth and women development as well as the holistic successes and approaches that have been done by the Zanu-PF Government. It is also an opportunity for people to understand what Vision 2030 is about,” said Cde Hungwe.
He said the party will also be showcasing the devolution successes as led by the First Secretary and President Mnangagwa.
Visitors to the party stand will see achievements that have been made in any province of the country.
“There is a special gallery for President Mnangagwa where visitors will get to understand the person of our leader. We also have the Small and Medium Enterprise centre which show successes of deliberate policies enacted by the party in Government. The products at the SMEs centre speak testimony of the validity and demands of the masses, they are a confirmation that the policies are real and are creating employment for the masses,” said Cde Hungwe.
He said as a testimony that the revolutionary party is a people’s party that is prepared not to leave anyone behind, there is a returnees’ booth that shows persons who had left the party for various reasons.
“The party’s door is always open for and to anyone and this year we have a special booth for the returnees. We have cadres who had decided to leave the party but are now coming back, we have some coming straight from the opposition and all these people are always welcome to the party. Those who want to join can do so right away and the process takes less than three minutes, one’s card will be out,” said Cde Hungwe.
Among the high profile party leaders to tour the various exhibits at the stand yesterday was Vice President Constantino Chiwenga and the Second Secretary and Vice President of Zanu-PF, Cde Kembo Mohadi. – @skhumoyo2000
