ZANU PF has deployed campaigning teams for the Epworth Ward 6 by-elections scheduled for August 2.

The local authority seat became vacant after the CCC councillor Nobody Makoni was convicted and sentenced to 40 months in prison for criminal abuse of duty.

Speaking at a rally in Epworth to drum up support for the party yesterday, Zanu PF’s Harare provincial political commissar Cde Voyage Dambuza, stated that the party had intensified its campaign efforts to secure the by-election by deploying members who will engage in door-to-door visits.

“We are targeting nothing less than 8 000 voters for this by-election. Zanu PF remains committed to implementing people-centred projects, as the self-serving opposition has caused significant suffering for the electorate,” he said.

All party structures are on the ground mobilising support for its candidate, Cde Civilised Bushe.

Cde Dambuza emphasised that Zanu PF would leave no stone unturned in their election efforts, with teams already on the ground to encourage voter turnout for the party.

He further said teams had been deployed in Ward 6 to hold road shows and door-to-door campaigns as the revolutionary party targets a resounding victory.

Service delivery is at the centre of the President Mnangagwa’s heart, especially access to clean water, refuse collection, health and road rehabilitation.

The party, he said, is very confident that it would fish from the opposition pond.

“What we are now doing is to prepare for these by-elections. We already have teams that have been trained in terms of how to campaign, teams that have also gone through the relevant ideological training administered by Chitepo School of Ideology.

“We don’t sit on our laurels; we believe success brings success, once you succeed it gives you the motivation, that even tomorrow’s success is guaranteed,” he stated.

As a party, he said, it was healthy for Zanu PF to be on its toes to mobilise support.
