PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has said the ruling Zanu-PF is the party of liberation and the party of the future whose resolutions, policies and directives affect society and impact all sectors of the economy.
The President who was speaking during the closing ceremony of the revolutionary party’s 21st National People’s Conference last week said the interests of Zanu-PF are the interests of the people of Zimbabwe.
He called on party members to come together in unity and work towards not only the success of the party but the continued development of the nation, emphasising that when the party promises, the party should deliver.
“Zanu-PF is the party of liberation and the party of the future. We are a colossal mass revolutionary party and our resolutions, policies and directives affect our society and impact all sectors of the economy. Guided by our sector-specific directives issued by this conference, the concerns of our communities must be comprehensively addressed. No one and no place must be left behind.
“Our purposes must continue to be intricately linked to the progress and economic rejuvenation of our great motherland, Zimbabwe. We, the current crop of cadres, have an obligation to ensure that Zanu-PF remains the driving force for peaceful development and to build our economy at an accelerated pace,” said the President.
President Mnangagwa said the conference’s theme; “Industrialise and Modernise Towards the Attainment of Vision 2030” should now see the party explore new horizons in the ongoing modernisation and industrialisation agenda. He said every party department, across all wings, must now study and distil the various aspects of the conference into programmes and activities which respond to their unique local situations, challenges and opportunities.
“As we go back and put shoulder to the wheel, we should, therefore, diligently pursue industrial transformation and robust value chains as a catalyst for sustainable development and a competitive industrial base.
“High impact social development progress must be recorded during the upcoming reporting period that is ahead of us. Constructive and programme-based grassroots engagements and mobilisation, across all Party structures, will be key in delivering the desired results. No village, ward or district can be developed by a bickering and divided people. Unity, unity, unity, peace and harmony are essential cogs to amplify the growth and prosperity our country seeks and deserves,” said President Mnangagwa.
He called on the party structures at the grassroots level to accordingly receive the outcomes of the conference and translate these, at community level.
The President said the country’s development philosophy, Nyika inovakwa, inotongwa, inonamatigwa nevene vayo/ ilizwe, lakhiwa, libuswe, likhulekelwe ngabanikazi balo, must continue to be embedded in everything that is done as a nation and become a way of life.
President Mnangagwa further called on the youth within the party and across communities, to be rooted in this cardinal development principle.
“After all, they (youths) are like seeds that thrive on fertile land and the storehouse of national hope for the growth of our revolutionary mass Party, Zanu-PF and the realisation of Vision 2030.
“I thank you our women and youth for devoting your energy and ideas for the benefit of our party and the people’s revolution. In all seasons and at all times, you have demonstrated, along with the Veterans of the Liberation Struggle, that you are the vanguard, always ready to defend the party,” said the President.
He said the summary of discussions by the various committees and overall conference resolutions are a political proclamation and call to action for more transformative projects, which must be timely implemented.
“Reinforcing our Party’s political foundation is a mission without an end and should never be neglected or abandoned. Let us be emboldened by this watershed Conference and continue to build our Party in tandem with the new socio-economic and technological realities, while maintaining the unique ideological DNA that make Zanu-PF the party that has endured for six decades. This is the guarantor that will make our Party grow from strength to strength.
“In our march towards Vision 2030, the people of our great motherland, Zimbabwe, shall enjoy the fruits of prosperity and development. Hand in hand, we are moving forward, overcoming obstacles in our way, such as the illegal economic sanctions. Under the Zanu-PF led Government, the rise of Zimbabwe is unstoppable,” said the President.
Meanwhile, Zanu-PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Cde Chris Mutsvangwa hailed the just ended conference as being an ultimate exercise of democracy, which once again proved to all that Zanu-PF was a democratic party.
Briefing journalists on the outcomes of the conference, Cde Mutsvangwa said the open deliberations and the conference resolutions showed the seriousness the ruling party had in continuing the development agenda towards the attainment of Vision 2030.
“4 000 people from the country’s 10 province gathered here in Bulawayo where, for the past two days were focused on what is the mission of Zanu-PF to the people of Zimbabwe, which is to deliver prosperity, which they have long cherished for.
“We had our membership engaged in candid debates, cut and thrust over issues. No issue was swept under the carpet, no issue was taboo, and everything was on the table. The resolutions that came out of this conference cover the day-to-day aspects of Zimbabwe, from the various wings and organs of the party,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.
The Zanu-PF spokespersons said the ruling party takes its mission to deliver on good governance and prosperity for Zimbabwe very serious hence the robust deliberations during the conference.
He hailed the resilience and dedication exhibited by President Mnangagwa noting that the party membership were appreciative of what he has achieved in a short five years to transform the economy to where it is today.
“Our economy is now evidently vibrant and can even overcome shocks. Just this year, we have experienced a drought year but look at what our party has done, we are feeding the populace of Zimbabwe pretty much on our own, before we would have resorted to begging bowls but no, Zimbabwe is now capable of dealing with external shocks.
“We are also delivering infrastructure through the industrialisation agenda, reports from our mining industry is generally doing well courtesy of gold, the price of gold is going up and we have so many young people who are into gold mining. We also discussed macro-economic stability, this is something
“Zimbabweans never expected to be discussed, normally we discuss hyperinflation, which is what we have been discussing in the past two decades, but things have now changed,we are now discussing how to make our currency strong,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.
