The Zanu-PF Mashonaland West provincial disciplinary committee is set to decide the fate of cadres who have applied to either rejoin or be readmitted into the revolutionary party.
The province’s disciplinary committee chairman, Cde Keith Guzah, said yesterday the cases will be finalised this week.
“I am aware that we have pending cases of people who wrote letters to us indicating their intentions to rejoin the party,” he said.
“We are going to finalise those cases before end of this week. Plans are that we will hold a Press conference announcing our decision this week.”
Former Vice President Joice Mujuru’s National People’s Party (NPP) women’s assembly chairwoman Ms Marian Chombo was the latest to write a letter seeking readmission into Zanu-PF. In her letter, Ms Chombo said she was forced out of the party by former president Cde Robert Mugabe during the run up to the 2013 harmonised elections.
“Because of my differing views with my ex-husband, Dr Ignatius Chombo facilitated my unceremonious expulsion from the party,” reads party of the letter. Ms Chombo, who said she believed in Zanu-PF’s ideology, pledged to work hard for Zimbabwe under the guidance of the revolutionary party.
“With the new political dispensation ushered in by Operation Restore Legacy, the party is surely poised for positive growth.”
Former National Alliance for Good Governance (NAGG) presidential candidate Dr Shakespeare Maya also noted in his letter that he was a reformed member willing to serve the party.
Since the collapse of factionalism within the ruling party, especially with the ascendency of Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa as First Secretary and President of Zanu-PF and the demise of G40, politicians are increasingly making a beeline to rejoin the revolutionary party.
Other people who have indicated that they are ready to return to Zanu-PF are for provincial party chairman Mr Themba Mliswa, including prominent MDC-T members in Mashonaland West.
